There is another side of me that does not begin with a security assessment, a line of code or a business plan.
It begins with sound.
Music gives me a different way to explore patterns, atmosphere, emotion and ideas.
Under the name 1991AD, I work across hypnotic electronic music, psychedelic electronic sound, Hindi hip-hop and experimental vocals.
Some pieces begin with repetition and atmosphere. Others begin with language, a vocal phrase or a story that needs a rhythm. Darker textures, cultural influences and immersive sound design give these directions a shared creative space.
I do not want one track to stand in for the whole practice. Moving between genres lets me ask what an idea needs before choosing the form it will take.
The creative process brings together composition, writing, visual design, technology and digital publishing.
It is different from building software.
Yet I recognize familiar instincts in both.
Experimentation.
Structure.
Attention to detail.
The willingness to keep changing something until it communicates what I want it to communicate.
Not every idea needs to become a product.
Not every experience needs to be explained through analysis.
Some ideas deserve to become music.
Technology gives me a way to understand the world. Music gives me another way to express it.
